~ Realtor Reality ~

  • Mood:
  • Yesterday cans: 15
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
~ 2 Peter 1:2

In my November 19th entry  I mention how much I enjoy to walk  & I wrote about numerous houses  becoming abandoned round these parts . . . there's this one house the family moved out for when they signed on they got a "great deal", at least for a limited time  but then the note raised to where they just were not able to keep up with it ( this I heard from a few of neighbors, I used to wave  to them as passing by but I never spoke with them ) . . . seeing I pass the house  each day I get to see it quite a few times, houses draw me in  . . . I walked the lot a couple times, pressed my face to a few of the windows to see in & always go away sighing  for I know it is just not in our cards  . . . but curiosity  got the best of me . . . on the house was a white paper note  proclaiming the house was winterized & if there was any emergency to call such-n-such number . . . I had begun to notice certain areas of the house being disturbed so I got in contact  with the number to give them a heads up to this . . . later I contacted them again in reference to what was taking place, I got to hear the word ratification . . . some time passed, damage still taking place, no realtor sign up yet so I attempted to contact  the company one more time . . . this time I was told it was not on the market yet, they would TRY to keep me in mind BUT with SO MANY interested it was difficult, they SUGGESTED I keep an eye on the house & call them when I see a sign go up . . .  ????  . . . on that note it took quite a bit for me to not tell them my suggestion! Talk about blown off before you even get a toe in the door! I would think that in the Realtor Business you would be a bit more . . . hhmmm  . . . nicer . . . Sales are important in that line of work, so to me each person interested is a great potential & should be treated in such a manner . . . Realtors up our way are not the best & makes it clear to me why sales are not that great  . . . I wrote them back informing them that their response was not one I favored & when I was interested in a house I would not be contacting them again . . . their response? Thank You, keep us in mind . . . . ????????  . . . .

Another house  has been empty forever & a day, this one had a sign on the yard . . . so I thought well, lets give it a try, can't hurt to ask  . . . it is a 4 bedroom 2 bath that is RENTING for $1850! um . . . no thank you  . . . the individual bought the house back in 2000 for $133,400

There is another house  that I have passed all these years . . . a very small rambler . . . when we first moved to this area I assumed the house was abandoned due to the outside condition, but quickly found out that no it was instead the individual was a very private sort who was an extreme & I mean EXTREME pack rat . . . there is a car port that was packed to the gill with boxes, crates, bags, chairs, you name it is there with this very very narrow pathway to the door . . . I always thought how the hey hiddy hey did this person get in & out  . . . & my word if there was ever a fire   !!!!! The front porch has collapsed, neighbors tell me that the back one collapsed years ago . . . it is in pretty sad condition  . . . there is a dumpster out front now, I saw the neighbor before Thanksgiving, gave them greetings  & wishes for a fine Holiday  & inquired about the dumpster . . .she said she was moving, her house was recently broke into  . . .  yesterday I stopped & asked if she needed any help ( she is an elderly widow ) she declined, we talked briefly & she gave me this box of Avon items! Glory Be To God & Praise Sweet Jesus  ! How sweet was that! I went through them & found they were mostly from 1989! Yes she did like to keep things indeed!!!

Prior to her house  as passing by another house  I was talking to one of the kids  I walk  home when I heard a rustling in the leaves  coming from behind me, thinking mad squirrel ( we have a shortage of acorns around here & the squirrels are getting a tad aggressive ) I pushed the kid  to the side as turning to look over my shoulder at what was coming at us  . . . what did I see? the cutes, fuzziest, plumpest little puppies   pouncing through the leaves  to get to us!!!! We were near the street & I worried they would get squished so we stopped & got a lot of puppy love given to us . . . my girls   & another kid  were walking  ahead of us so they did not spot them right away, but from the girly squeals  I knew the minute they spotted me with the puppies!!! Watching my girls & the other kids rolling about with these puppies   was a major "awwwww" moment . . . one of the kids upon my request knocked on the door to tell the owner these pups were out, I was hesitant about this for this house is one of the major drug ones in our area but as well, I really did not want to see these puppies injured! Turns out they had five but these were the last two . . .  as well apparently the resident of the house found me to be hot  & inquired if I was married . . . his interest in me confirms he is indeed on drugs!!!!!

Settling into bed last evening  my son came back to the house earlier then normal . . . with a friend  of his . . . I have known this boy  for quite a few years, excellent individual, caring & hardworking . . . he works at a Hospital, is a major computer whiz & an outrageously talented tattoo artist  . .  he just recently got kicked out of his house  & is now having to live in his car  . . . I feel so badly for him  . . . he has a horrid cold, his auto hydroplaned the other day & got damaged & now he has no where to live  . . . this is the second friend of my sons that I have heard is living in his car . . .

I have been Praying, & I have Faith, I do Believe things are going to get so much better very soon! Glory Be To God & Praise Sweet Jesus!

~ Happy Thanksgiving!!! ~

  • Mood:

Give us this day our daily bread,
O Father in heaven,
and grant that we who are filled with good things from Your open hand,
may never close our hearts to the hungry, the homeless, and the poor;
in the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

Some Silly Facts:

* Fossil evidence shows that turkeys roamed the Americas 10 million years ago.

* It was not until 1941, that congress declared Thanksgiving as a national holiday. It was declared to be the fourth Thursday in November.

* Benjamin Franklin wanted the national bird to be a turkey.

* Thomas Jefferson thought the concept of Thanksgiving was "the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard."

* 91% of Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day.

* More than 40 million green bean casseroles are served on Thanksgiving.

* Twenty percent of cranberries eaten are eaten on Thanksgiving.

* Contrary to popular belief, Native Americans did not eat cranberries. They did, however, find them extremely useful for dying fabric and decorating pottery.

* There was no milk, cheese, bread, butter or pumpkin pie at the original Thanksgiving Day feast.

* According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Minnesota is the top turkey-producing state in America, with a planned production total of 49 million in 2008. Just six states—Minnesota, North Carolina, Arkansas, Virginia, Missouri and Indiana—will probably produce two-thirds of the estimated 271 million birds that will be raised in the U.S. this year.

* According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest pumpkin pie ever baked weighed 2,020 pounds and measured just over 12 feet long. It was baked on October 8, 2005 by the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers in Ohio, and included 900 pounds of pumpkin, 62 gallons of evaporated milk, 155 dozen eggs, 300 pounds of sugar, 3.5 pounds of salt, 7 pounds of cinnamon, 2 pounds of pumpkin spice and 250 pounds of crust.

An Important Fact:

Most people think that homeless people are bums and panhandlers. Wikipedia defines homelessness as a situation in which a person does not have a long term place of ongoing residence, usually in cities or suburbs. Homeless people are demeaned in the media, ridiculed, and often the victims of hate crimes. But the truth of the matter is that homeless people arent just bums and panhandlers that sit on park benches or city streets, wear filthy clothing, or living in boxes, they are also people forced to live in their cars, with family members, in tents and makeshift camps, and in shelters. In the United States, it is estimated that 41% of the homeless are single men, 40% are families, 14% are single women, and 5% are youth.

The grass wither, the flowers fade, but the Word of our God shall stand forever.
~ Isaiah 40:8

Over the weekend I was able to read in The Family Devotions Bible  about Job:

Job
The Family Devotions Bible
Pg. 505

"When bad things happen, it's easy to start questioning God. Why did God let it happen? Doesn't God care about us? Isn't He strong enough to stop bad things? Why do bad things happen to people who trust and obey God?
Do you ever ask questions like these when things go wrong? Job and his friends did. Job was a man who loved and obeyed God with all of his heart. So when horrible things happened to him, he couldn't understand it. He became depressed.
Job's wife told him to give up his faith in God. But Job wouldn't do that. Then three friends who visited Job had one easy answer. They said bad things are punishment for our sins. But Job knew that wasn't right. A fourth friend told Job that God was disciplining him to keep him from future sin. Job didn't accept that either.
Even though Job didn't deny his faith in God, he did a lot of complaining and questioning. Finally God himself spoke to Job. God simply said that he is who he is. He reminded Job of all His power, wisdom, creativity, and compassion. Job realized that he needed to kep having faith in God, no matter what the circumstances.
When things go wrong for us, we need to keep our faith in God. God doesn't give us the answers, but He does give us Himself to trust."

Reading about Job came at a perfect time  for me! In my Family Devotions Bible 1993   it has Job 19 titled as Job: Impatient but Trusting God . . . that sums be up very well indeed! Reading  about Job was comforting to me, it was comforting to know that someone who is written about in the Bible at times was impatient & asked questions just as I do . . . you may know how you act or think others have too, but it is assuring when you read it  . . . you don't feel so "wrong". . . Anyway I know I need to work on my patience & I know God is answering my Prayers & I know my Season will be . . . but I also know I need to work on many areas inside myself, patience being one of the greater ones & Job helped confirm that as reassuring me . . .
Glory Be To God & Praise Sweet Jesus!
