I WAITED patiently and expectantly for the Lord and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of a horrible pit ( a pit of tumult and of destruction ), out of the miry clay ( froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.
~ Psalm 40:13
Lord, don't leave me; my God, don't go away. Quickly come and help me, my Lord and Savior.

Please take a moment, watch, listen, learn, live
Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.
~Proverbs 16:24

Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods;

I thought "Hot Dog!"
for one of my goals for 2009
is to become so much more aware & better at recycling ( I do recycle, I enjoy recycling but I also admit I am what one would call a sloopy recycler - I need to improve - ) . . . I haven't viewed
the entire site yet, there is a lot going on there!, but I did come across one section that showed "Keep America Beautiful Man aka Recycling Boy" a cartoonish character that has videos & what not . . . while it is cute
I feel I should give a heads up
on some of the content . . . one video, I believe it was #2, shows the KAB man talking to people about their trash & he pulls out a pair of handcuffs & a naughty magazine from their garbage container
. . . not wanting to sound prudish but wanted to give a heads up to view these things before you watch them with your children! ( I wish I could give you a direct link to that area but I got lost in all the info the main site supplies )
away this Sun. we ventured up to an area Public Transportation Lot to do a last "explore" for the year 2008 . . . when I say "explore" my family knows I am actually meaning "We are going to look for cans!"
. . . there is this huge paved area for the cars/buses that is surrounded by woods, pond/lake & some streams . . . it really is a beautiful area if you can get past all the trash & disrespect many selfish individuals have subjected the area to!!!
. . . off the pavement, past the sidewalk, down a small hill is where a small main stream is & my girls
were seriously drawn to it . . . I don't worry about the wildlife there what I am concerned of is the "bad life" that dwells down there so I was huffing
to the girls to stay close . . . if I was on my own I would be go there in a heart beat, love the woods & that style of exploring, but with two girls to watch over I am a bit more hesitant . . . my oldest
felt she saw a cell phone & got frustrated at me telling her "leave it be, leave it be" . . . so she went & got her Dad, my Hub, from the truck ( he was catching up on some reading ) . . . once he came out I then felt it was okay for us to venture out there
had fun following the trails, climbing trees, finding curious misplaced items ( someone dumped two computer
monitors back there ). . . & I found the Mother Load of cans
! At one point as collecting some cans I noted in the corner of my eye a large thing struggling through the woods, giving a shout out
confirmed it was indeed my oldest
pushing & shoving a discarded grocery cart
as proclaiming "I am bringing this home!!! I am going to make it into a go cart!!" . . . while I find her idea creative & clever I had to give her the speech of we were not able too, how it was illegal to remove a cart from the stores parking area & it was best it stayed there & you need to listen to me . . . I think
my words were just about sinking in when low & behold what comes through the woods??? My Hub with yet another grocery cart
!!!!! arrrghhhh

. . . we come across some from time to time during "exploring" & I never really gave them too much thought until now . . . being outside, pushed into water, not having four wheel drive so they are truly overly dragged overthe terrain I wonder
If I contact the stores they belong too, many of them have the stores name on them, do they have a company that gathers them up & recycles them or refurbishes them into new carts? I am going to look into this! Grocery carts are a HUGE HUGE litter factor in our area
! If we are cleaning up areas by removing cans maybe we can kick it up a notch by removing carts
as well! I did a quick search via the internet
& discovered in some states there are companies that recover the carts for the store - wonder about the price for that
? I wrote an email
to the local food store & am awaiting a response to my inuiry )
. . . the glass in just about each cubicle has been shattered out . . . news paper
& real estate
book metal stands are torn up & placed down to make additional "benches" . . . we have even opened the FREE real estate
book stand to discovered someone's clothes including shoes neatly folded & tucked away ( perhaps this was their dresser? ) . . . spit out gum has littered the cement so much it has the appearance of badly multi colored carpeting
. . . there is a trash can
but people prefer to use the ground & trees
. . . it really is disgusting
! But more so heartbreaking
the disrespect individuals shell out to a service that is provided to help them to get from here to there! Walking
the pavement I noted a man in one of the cubicles . . . at one point sitting, shortly there after laying down with his jacket covering him . . . my oldest nudged me & I nodded to let her know I saw him, she then mentioned maybe he did not know buses were not running today, told her perhaps . . . she then inquires if I felt he was homeless, told her we would find out when we got up to that area . . . we were a distant away when he yelled out
to us that there were quite a few cans
up by him . . . yelled out "Thank You" & from there our conversation began . . . homeless? I am not sure
then again I guess he was
. . . he explained him & his girlfriend had a fight & police
were involved so he was not allowed to go there, then something about the place he lived for two years he was kicked out of, something about his employer & . . . well, I got confused
. . . he did tell me he goes to a shelter but could not go there until 7 p.m. & had to be out by 7 a.m. . . . you could tell we made him a bit nervous & he wanted to talk but at the same time was uncomfortable. . . he gathered his items & walked away
. . . at the end of our "explore" we had gathered up enough cans
to fill up a small white kitchen trash bag! Before the New Year
Hub will take them up to the Recycling Center to turn in for cash
. . . our plan with the cash is to set aside 1/10 for
tithing
& the rest we will take up to the Thrift Store to see if we can find some suitable winter clothing for our girls
. . .
I came across this:
I LOVE IT! Cracked me up!
